Last weekend I had the time of my life! I went to the skate park and got to hang out with Mitchel Musso. He’s such a great humanoid. Kids were coming up to him all day long, asking him to sign this, sign that and he stopped what he was doing every single time, just to sign their skate boards or to take a photo with them. It was like everyone knew who he was too! They crowded around him like he was a piece of bacon or something. It was crazy. And he’s pretty good on the ol’ skateboard too. Guess you’ll just have to wait till the April issue to find out. :} Chow

Sometimes life can be ruff. You never know when you just might be getting too much of a good thing. Take last night for instance. My owners are home, we’re all hanging out. They’re eating and I’m waiting two inches away from them, like I always do, watching for any scraps that fall. They decide to make me work for the extra roast beef they have so they tell me to go get the slippers from the closet. One by one, as requested I bring out slippers. First I bring out a single red slipper and get my roast beef reward. Super yummy! Then I bring out the 2nd red slipper. Reward. Mmmmmmm, my belly wants some more. So I go back, rummage through the closet and find another pair of slippers, big fuzzy blue ones with an animal’s head on it. Reward. I bring out the 2nd fuzzy blue slipper and sure enough, they give me more roast beef! Now I’m thinking, this is great! All I have to do is bring out these fuzzy shoes type things and I’ve got it made. I proceed to bring out 6 more shoes each gaining me a reward until they suddenly tell me, “Enough, go lie down!”
Now I’m feeling sad cuz I could’ve kept eating that roast beef but what’s a dog gonna do. Then without warning, my tummy erupts into this painful rumble and before I know it, I’m bringing all of that fine roast beef up and onto their white carpets. Blah! Blah! Blah! Oh wait, but there’s more but I decide to go downstairs for that one and do it all over their floors in the living room. Sometimes you just gotta spread the love, you know what I mean?

Anyway, for those of you who care, I do feel better this morning. In fact, I felt better the second it all came out of me. I even tried bringing them more slippers again but they didn’t fall for it this time. Such is the life of a dog!

Chow for now!
Sure, I’ve got someone staying with me here. They “take care of me.” Whatever! It’s more like mom and dad hired a personal slave for me. I’ve got him so trained. All I gotta do is jump up at his face and paw at him and he’ll do whatever I need. Sometimes I feel like playing keep away with the ball but I’ve also got him trained to turn on the water faucet for me, everytime I jump up onto the sink. Of course, going outside is a cinch. All I really have to do is bark and scratch at the door. My fav thing to do these days is swim in the backyard in our heated pool (heated just for me, thank you very much!) and so I get him to come out and supervise me when I’m doing laps. It’s not that I really need him out there but it’s fun to have someone else around who can make big splashes for me! I love chasing after flying water and then biting it in mid air. It’s so fun!

So here’s a story I was reading about this morning over bacon and sausage. It was from the Colorado’s Channel 9 News:

87 dogs that were rescued a week ago from Amish puppy mills in Missouri, are now being taken care of in Colorado Springs.

One of the dogs, Pee Wee, needed surgery to fix a hole in her heart. She will have to have a second surgery next month.

The non-profit Mill Dog Rescue Network rescued the dogs by out-bidding breeders at an auction. According to their Web site, they paid as little as 50 cents for some of the dogs.

The organization is hoping to buy a permanent home in Falcon, but first it has to raise $200,000.

Theresa Strader, one of the group’s founders, is giving up her job as a nurse at Children’s Hospital to take care of the dogs full-time.

“Giving them a chance at life seems so paramount to us,” Strader said.

Dogs can be adopted for $150.

Anyway, you can check out the story and more at the Mill Dog Rescue site.

Anyway, let me know if you’ve ever adopted a dog before or maybe even rescued one yourself off of the street.
